Overview

PH-Core is a healthcare operations platform built to simplify the day-to-day management of clinics. From patient records and appointments to billing and operational workflows, the platform brings essential clinical processes together into one unified experience.

The project focused on reducing operational complexity while enabling healthcare teams to spend less time managing systems and more time delivering patient care.

The Problem

Healthcare professionals often work with fragmented systems that require constant context switching. Scheduling, billing, patient records, laboratory reports, and administrative tasks are frequently distributed across multiple tools, increasing cognitive load and slowing everyday operations.

These disconnected workflows create inefficiencies, introduce avoidable errors, and ultimately impact the quality of care. The challenge was to redesign this experience into a platform that felt intuitive, reliable, and efficient for every member of the clinic.

The Goal

The primary objective was to create a product that could:

My Role

As the Product Designer, I owned the design process from research to developer handoff.

Responsibilities

Understanding the Users

Before designing, I spent time understanding how different healthcare professionals interacted with clinic management systems. Primary users included:

Each role had unique goals but relied on the same ecosystem, making consistency across workflows essential.

Design Challenges

01
Fragmented Workflows
Users needed to navigate multiple screens to complete a single task.
02
Information Overload
Important actions were buried beneath dense interfaces and unnecessary data.
03
Inconsistent Navigation
Similar actions appeared in different places, increasing the learning curve.
04
Limited Visibility
Critical information wasn't surfaced at the right moment, forcing users to search instead of act.

Design Strategy

Every design decision followed four guiding principles.

Reduce Cognitive Load
Surface only the information users need at each step while keeping advanced functionality easily accessible.
Design Around Workflows
Instead of designing isolated screens, create complete end-to-end experiences that mirror how clinics actually operate.
Prioritize Speed
Frequently used actions should require fewer clicks and remain accessible from anywhere in the product.
Build for Scale
Create reusable patterns and components capable of supporting future healthcare modules without redesigning the interface.

Information Architecture

The platform was reorganized around core clinical workflows rather than technical system modules. Key areas included:

This structure reduced navigation complexity while making daily tasks easier to discover.

Design System

To ensure consistency across the product, I created a scalable design system consisting of:

This reduced design inconsistencies while accelerating future product development.

Outcomes

The redesigned experience successfully transformed a complex enterprise platform into a more approachable and efficient workflow. Key improvements included:

What I Learned

This project reinforced that enterprise products don't need to feel complicated. Good healthcare design isn't about adding more features — it's about helping busy professionals complete important tasks with confidence and minimal friction.

Working on PH-Core strengthened my understanding of designing for operational efficiency, designing reusable systems, and balancing business requirements with real user needs.
